Fixed Prosthodontics
What Is Fixed Prosthodontics?
Fixed prosthodontics is a type of dental treatment in which artificial teeth are permanently attached to the patient’s teeth or jaw. Restorations that do not cover all surfaces of a tooth are called inlays, onlays, and overlays. Restorations that fully cover a severely decayed or fractured tooth are called crowns. Replacing a missing tooth by connecting artificial teeth to adjacent teeth is called a bridge.

Fixed Prosthodontic Treatment at hiDental:
At hiDental, crowns and bridges are typically recommended when teeth are missing or when teeth are severely decayed or fractured beyond the possibility of regular fillings. Sometimes patients request crowns simply to achieve a whiter and more aesthetic smile, but hiDental may refuse such cases if there are more conservative treatment options available, such as veneers or teeth whitening, which preserve more natural tooth structure while still achieving excellent aesthetics. You can rest assured that hiDental always provides thorough consultations to recommend the most suitable and sustainable solution for you.
You may notice that fixed prosthodontic treatment is one of the most common procedures performed in dental clinics. However, what hiDental focuses on is precision, meticulous craftsmanship, and ensuring a comfortable patient experience. Therefore, we pay close attention to every stage of treatment: only preparing teeth when truly necessary, carefully considering each patient’s preferences regarding tooth shape and color, and ensuring that both dentists and dental laboratories pursue the highest level of accuracy possible.
Equally important, hiDental always selects the most advanced, aesthetic, and durable materials for our patients. At hiDental, you can choose from various ceramic crown and bridge materials, each offering different characteristics and pricing options.
Crown and Bridge Procedure:
- The dentist will carefully reshape the tooth to create enough space for the restoration. This is a critical stage that depends heavily on the dentist’s skills and experience. At hiDental, with our philosophy of “maximum tooth preservation,” dentists prepare only the minimum amount necessary to achieve excellent aesthetics without unnecessarily weakening the tooth structure.
- The dentist will take impressions of your teeth to fabricate the crown or bridge in a dental laboratory. While waiting for the final restoration, temporary white acrylic crowns will be placed to protect the prepared teeth and maintain both function and aesthetics.
- The dentist will try the crown on your teeth, make minor adjustments if necessary, and permanently cement the restoration.
Typically, it takes approximately 2–3 appointments to complete your desired restoration.
