• Orthodontics or braces treatment (also known as dental braces) is a method used to correct spacing, protrusion, underbite, and misaligned teeth through orthodontic appliances that are worn regularly inside the mouth.

Fixed Orthodontic Appliances:

• Fixed braces are currently the most common orthodontic treatment method. The appliances include brackets, bands, and orthodontic wires that are permanently attached to the teeth to apply continuous force day and night, allowing teeth to move more efficiently. Specifically, brackets (small rectangular appliances with hooks) are bonded onto the teeth using dental adhesive. Bands are metal rings attached around the back teeth, while orthodontic wires are shaped according to the dental arch and connected to the brackets.
• As a result, the teeth gradually move according to the dentist’s treatment plan. Orthodontic wires are adjusted regularly to control the force and direction of tooth movement. Depending on the treatment requirements, some patients may need additional mini screws (temporary anchorage devices) placed in the jawbone to increase tooth movement efficiency.
